Last year we had a memorable trip to Georgia. We visited mostly eastern part of the country: Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Kakheti, Kazbegi.
Georgia is getting very popular among travel destinations, and there are reasons for it. I had impression, that this country has a special God’s protection. Georgians seemed to me very mature as a nation, people are a bit austere from outside and kind, generous inside.
There I was thinking about eternal values, that aren’t affected by time, political situations or new trends. It’s not all about money, there is a place for gestures from heart, because it makes you happy to do something nice for other.
Of course, there are places that are getting more commercialized: less quality, higher prices. But good things prevailed.
During the trip we met in Georgia people from many countries. Many locals speak English, so it makes things easier for tourists.
As an Almaty native I often miss mountains. That’s why visiting Kazbegi for me was the most exciting part: huge mountains, fresh air, long hiking with obstacles, being alone with myself during trek, fantastic views. Photographs taken in mountains are amazing.
Georgian wine and food deserve special mention. Georgia is one of the few places where vegetables, fruits, meat are natural, delicious. We visited wine region – Kakheti during grape harvest. Tracks full of grapes was something extraordinary for me.
At Shumi Winery we learned about traditional way of producing wine, chacha (traditional vodka-like alcoholic drink), discovered orange wine, found out why there are roses growing among vineyards.
I am planning to be back there, to do photo shoots in Tbilisi and mountains, to visit a village above clouds, to enjoy again hiking, sulfur baths and nice vibes of Georgia.
